Aqiqah

Aqiqah is an Islamic tradition performed to celebrate the birth of a child. It involves the sacrifice of an animal (usually a sheep or goat) as a sign of gratitude to Allah. The meat is typically cooked and shared with family, friends, and the poor. The ceremony is traditionally held on the seventh day after the child’s birth, coinciding with the shaving of the baby’s hair and the official naming of the child.
